Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has firmly rejected growing speculation linking Victor Osimhen with a summer move to Atlético Madrid or Real Madrid, insisting the Nigerian striker remains central to the club’s long-term plans in Istanbul, Footynaija reports.
Fresh transfer rumours emerged after reports claimed Atlético Madrid had made a verbal offer worth €120 million for the Super Eagles star. The Spanish side are believed to be considering Osimhen as a potential replacement for Julián Álvarez should the Argentine forward leave the club amid interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.
The speculation intensified when Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener suggested that Real Madrid had entered the race for Osimhen. According to Şener, newly appointed Real Madrid manager José Mourinho is eager to bring the former Napoli striker to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking on the issue, Şener said: “I think there’s a possibility Osimhen might leave Galatasaray. I heard Mourinho wants Osimhen at Real Madrid.”
He added: “Florentino Perez said during the election, ‘I’ve agreed a deal with a player for 150 million Euros.’ Galatasaray is also asking for that amount for Osimhen.”
Şener then posed a question to supporters, saying: “I’m asking the Galatasaray fans here. Florentino Perez sent 150 million Euros and said, ‘I’m buying Victor Osimhen,’ what do you say?”
Despite the growing transfer noise, Galatasaray’s hierarchy remain adamant that Osimhen is not for sale.
Club president Dursun Özbek delivered the strongest response yet to the rumours, making it clear that the Turkish champions did not bring the Nigerian to Istanbul with the intention of cashing in on him.
“We didn’t buy Osimhen to sell him! He’s a footballer who adds tremendous value to Galatasaray and loves Galatasaray deeply. We want him to serve Galatasaray for many years. Osimhen is also very happy at Galatasaray,” Özbek said.
Galatasaray’s confidence is strengthened by Osimhen’s contract situation. The striker is tied to the club until June 2029, and reports in Turkey suggest there is no release clause in his deal, giving the club full control over any future negotiations.
Beyond rejecting interest from Atlético Madrid, Galatasaray are reportedly planning their future around the 27-year-old forward. Club insiders believe Osimhen remains happy in Turkey after becoming a fan favourite and leading the team’s attack in domestic and European competitions.
