Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche has explained the club’s decision to sign Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, describing the Nigerian as a player capable of becoming a key figure in the Bundesliga side’s long-term project, Footynaija.com reports.
Onyedika officially completed his move from Belgian champions Club Brugge on Saturday, bringing an end to a successful four-year spell in Belgium. The 25-year-old joins Frankfurt after establishing himself as one of the most consistent midfielders in the Belgian Pro League.
Speaking after the confirmation of Onyedika’s arrival, Krosche highlighted the qualities that convinced Frankfurt to pursue the Nigerian international.

“Raphael Onyedika has impressed us not only with his robustness and his tactical understanding of the game, but above all because of his exceptional consistency,” the Frankfurt chief said, per quotes revealed on the club’s official X account.
“He has been a regular starter over the past few years, won numerous titles in Belgium and also brings valuable international experience. At 25, he still has enormous room for development and will be an important building block in the structure of our squad.”
Onyedika arrives in Germany after making 183 appearances for Club Brugge, scoring nine goals and providing six assists while helping the Belgian giants enjoy a great deal of success on the domestic front and compete regularly in European competitions.
The Super Eagles midfielder is expected to strengthen Frankfurt’s engine room ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign, with the club confident his physicality, tactical intelligence and experience will allow him to adapt quickly to life in Germany.
