Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has praised Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen for his exceptional work rate and ability to trouble opposition defences, highlighting qualities that make the Nigerian striker more than just a goalscorer, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen has enjoyed a prolific start to the current campaign with Galatasaray, establishing himself among the most effective forwards in European football through his goals and contributions in the final third.
The 27-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances across all competitions, including nine goals in eight Turkish Super Lig matches.

His impressive performances have also seen him reach a significant milestone in Turkish football, becoming the second-fastest player in history to score 50 goals in the Super Lig.
However, Deeney believes the Nigeria international’s greatest qualities extend beyond his impressive scoring record, pointing to his relentless movement and ability to occupy defenders.
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, the former England striker compared the Galatasaray forward to former Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba, noting how both strikers combine physical presence with intelligent movement and the ability to create space for themselves.

“People will look at the goals. I look at his work rate. The ability to work that whole backline on his own,” Deeney said.
“He plays one upfront, very similar to Didier Drogba in the fact that he occupies the whole backline, but what he also gives is that he runs in behind.”
The 37-year-old further highlighted Osimhen’s link-up play and willingness to stretch defences by running into the channels, qualities that continue to make him a valuable asset for Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker will be looking to maintain his impressive form in front of goal as the reigning Super Lig champions set their sights on a fifth consecutive top flight triumph as well as a strong run on the continent.
