Belgian champions Club Brugge have reportedly identified West Ham United midfielder Freddie Potts as the ideal replacement for Super Eagles star Raphael Onyedika, who is closing in on a move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, Footynaija.com reports.
Reports from Germany suggest that Onyedika is expected to complete his switch to Frankfurt in the coming days after both clubs reached an agreement over a deal worth €9 million plus bonuses.
The Nigerian midfielder is now set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with the Bundesliga outfit. With Onyedika’s departure seemingly only a matter of time, Club Brugge have wasted no time searching for his successor.

According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian champions have made Potts their priority target and are already in advanced talks with West Ham over a deal worth around €12 million. The England youth international has also reportedly given the green light to the move and is expected to undergo his medical soon.
Potts is highly rated for his ability to play in both defensive and central midfield, while his composure on the ball and tactical awareness have convinced Club Brugge that he possesses the qualities needed to replace Onyedika.
The 22-year-old also heads to Belgium with valuable senior experience after featuring in the Premier League and enjoying a successful loan spell at Portsmouth.
Onyedika has been one of Club Brugge’s standout performers since arriving from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022, helping the Belgian giants compete for domestic honours and establish themselves as regulars in European competitions.
Should both deals go through as expected, Onyedika will embark on a new adventure in Germany while Potts will be tasked with filling the sizable void left by the Super Eagles midfielder.
