Dutch champions Ajax have joined the growing list of clubs hoping to sign Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare after his future at Wolverhampton Wanderers became uncertain, Footynaija reports.
According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Ajax are keeping a close watch on the 25-year-old and believe this could be the right time to make a move.
Although the Eredivisie giants recently signed Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo for about €20 million, they are still looking for a tall, physical striker to give their attack a different option.
Arokodare, who stands at 1.97 metres, fits that profile because of his strength, ability in the air and hold-up play. Ajax believe those qualities could help them as they prepare to compete in both the Dutch league and European football next season.
The Nigerian joined Wolves from Belgian club Genk in 2025 after scoring 23 league goals to finish as the Belgian top scorer. However, his first season in England was disappointing. He scored six goals and provided two assists in 38 matches as Wolves were relegated from the Premier League.
His situation became worse after reports of disciplinary issues at the club, after he asked to leave. He was dropped from first-team training, left out of the squad’s pre-season camp in Portugal and is now expected to leave before the transfer window closes.
Ajax are not the only club interested. Serie A sides Genoa and newly promoted Pisa are also monitoring him, while Fiorentina previously explored a loan move before talks collapsed. Turkish clubs Trabzonspor, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş have also been linked with the Super Eagles forward.
