Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles have assembled their full 31-man squad ahead of their upcoming clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games, Footynaija reports.
The team began preparations on Tuesday morning at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, with 28 players participating in their first training session.
The remaining three players, all from Rangers International of Enugu, joined the squad later in the day after featuring in their club’s 2026/27 CAF Champions League fixture against MC Alger.
The arrival of Chimobi Igwilo, Kenneth Igboke and Chibueze Oputa brought the Olympic Eagles to their full complement as preparations intensify for the crucial qualifying encounter.
The squad consists of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, eight midfielders and 10 forwards, giving the coaching crew several options as they work on the team’s tactical approach.
Nasarawa United’s Chinemerem Olughu, Rivers United’s Clinton Andy, Ebenezer Harcourt of Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City’s Michael Atata are the four goalkeepers invited.
The defensive group includes Gift Subi, Hillary Zion, Emmanuel Utake, Marvelous Freedom, Odinaka Alfred, Emmanuel Ochobi and Aliu Sugau.
In midfield, Freeman Wuchirwe, Victor Samuel, Umar Mohammed, Lucky Oraro, Aderemi Adeoye, Sani Shuaibu, Muhammad Salihu and Jude Eventus are among the players tasked with providing creativity and control.
The attacking options include Junior Ikechukwu, Timothy Zechariah, Williams Wonah, Ayoola Olaniyan, Chijioke Samuel, Jofrank Joshua, Alex Oweifaleya, Abdulmuiz Adeleke and Habila Simon.
With all 31 players now in camp, the technical crew, headed by coach Eric Chelle, can focus on improving cohesion, sharpening their tactical organisation and preparing for the challenge posed by DR Congo.
The tie is an important step in Nigeria’s bid to qualify for the men’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
