Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has explained why he decided to join Turkish second-tier side Bursaspor after his representatives held discussions with the club, Footynaija.com reports.
The 30-year-old joined Bursaspor as a free agent on a three-year contract after failing to agree an extension with Scottish giants Celtic.
Speaking on Bursaspor’s official YouTube channel, Iheanacho revealed that his agent played a key role in convincing him to consider the move, while the club’s history and the opportunity on offer helped him make his decision.
“To be fair, I don’t talk about transfers. I really try to concentrate on my football. The transfer talks were done with the agents and directors,” the Nigeria international said.
“Of course, I am aware of the transfer talks. I don’t really know how they were contacted, but I was told by my agent that Bursaspor were in contact.
“He explained everything to me in detail. I was happy, and I said yes. It’s a good and interesting place, according to how he told me about it.
“We went through everything together, and we saw it was a very concrete situation. I said this is a good place to go, and they have a good history as well.
“Moving forward, we delayed a little bit, but in the end, here we are now, enjoying every moment of it.”
Iheanacho’s Bursaspor move pays off

The decision has proved fruitful, with Iheanacho establishing himself as one of the standout performers in Turkish football this season.
The Super Eagles forward has scored in 12 consecutive league appearances, surpassing the previous Turkish record of nine successive matches held by Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı.
He has also registered 16 goals and three assists in 12 official appearances, helping Bursaspor climb to the top of the TFF First League standings.
Although he was substituted after picking up a knock during the recent 4-2 victory over Ankara Keçiörengücü, head coach Mustafa Er has played down concerns, explaining that the decision was precautionary.
With Bursaspor benefiting from his remarkable goalscoring form, Iheanacho will hope to maintain his momentum and help the club sustain its push for promotion.
