Tolu Arokodare is ready for a fresh start after telling Wolverhampton Wanderers he wants to leave before the new season begins, Footynaija reports.
The former Amiens forward has informed the club he has no desires to play in the EFL Championships next season, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira.
Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk for about £23.4 million (€27m) in September 2025, but his first year in England did not go as planned.
The 25-year-old scored only three Premier League goals in 33 matches as Wolves struggled throughout the campaign before being relegated to the Championship. Reports of a dressing-room clash with teenage teammate Mateus Mane, along with the arrival of experienced striker Raul Jimenez, have also made his future at Molineux uncertain.
Although Arokodare has linked up with Wolves’ pre-season camp in Portugal, talks over his departure are continuing. The club prefers a loan move because he is still under contract until 2029 and they want to protect his transfer value.
Three clubs are currently leading the race for his signature, with Fiorentina seen as the strongest option. The Serie A side has already improved its initial offer with a loan deal that includes a €22 million purchase clause, while negotiations continue over the final terms.
Genoa are also interested after adding the Nigerian forward to their shortlist as they search for a new striker. However, they are viewed as outsiders compared to Fiorentina.
Trabzonspor made the first official move, but Arokodare rejected the chance to play in Turkey. His priority is to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues, making Italy the most likely destination if he leaves Wolves this summer.
