Nigerian football agent Abiola Dauda has backed Super Eagles defender Leonard Ngenge to become a top player after praising Leeds United for taking a chance on the teenage centre-back, Footynaija.com reports.
Leeds secured Ngenge’s services in January after a successful trial, handing the Nigerian a contract until June 2027 and giving him his first opportunity to pursue his career in European football.
The 19-year-old earned the move after spells with Nigerian clubs Ikorodu City and Remo Stars. He made 25 appearances for Ikorodu City before joining Remo Stars in July 2025, featuring in seven matches for the Ikenne-based club before completing his move to Elland Road.

His impressive rise has also included senior international recognition, having represented Nigeria during the 2025 African Nations Championship at just 17 years old before securing his move to England.
Dauda, who played professional football for nearly two decades before retiring in 2024, believes Ngenge deserves the opportunity Leeds have given him and has tipped the defender to develop into an outstanding player.
Speaking to Africa Foot about the transfer, the Nigerian agent praised both the teenager’s determination and the English club’s willingness to invest in his potential.

“There are things I can’t say regarding Leonard’s move to Leeds, but what I can say is that he deserves it. Going on trial during the winter is no small feat. Leeds also believe in him, and I know he will become a top player,” Dauda said.
However, Ngenge still faces a challenge in establishing himself at Elland Road. The Nigerian is part of Leeds’ Under-21 setup but is yet to make his debut for the side or feature in a matchday squad.
The summer arrivals of defenders Tarik Muharemovic and Nico Elvedi could further complicate his prospects of breaking into Leeds’ senior team.
With his current contract running until June 2027, Ngenge will need to make progress in the coming months if he is to strengthen his position at the club.
