Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has urged his old club to make a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, insisting Spurs are still missing an elite goalscorer capable of filling the void left by Harry Kane, Footynaija.com reports.
Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich in 2023 brought an end to an era in north London, and despite the arrivals of Dominic Solanke and the continued presence of Richarlison, Tottenham are yet to find a forward capable of matching the England captain’s remarkable goalscoring output.
Alderweireld believes Osimhen is the ideal player to solve that problem. According to Spurs Insight, the former Belgium international identified the centre-forward position as Tottenham’s biggest area of need and backed the Nigeria international to lead the club’s attack.

Alderweireld believes those qualities would make Osimhen a perfect fit for a Tottenham side looking to establish itself among the Premier League’s leading contenders once again.
The Belgian’s comments come amid Spurs’ ongoing search for an attacker as they rebuild their squad under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, with several additions already made across midfield and defence during this summer.
Signing a striker of Osimhen’s calibre would undoubtedly require a significant financial commitment, but the Super Eagles star continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs following another impressive campaign in Turkey.
Whether Tottenham decide to act on Alderweireld’s recommendation remains to be seen, but the Nigerian forward’s name is unlikely to disappear from the transfer headlines anytime soon.
