Valencia manager Javier Aguirre has expressed his confidence in Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq ahead of his side’s La Liga clash against Real Madrid, hoping the Nigerian can deliver another decisive contribution after his match-winning return from injury, Footynaija.com reports.
The 29-year-old recently returned to action after spending nearly two months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, coming off the bench to score the winner in Valencia’s 1-0 victory over Elche last Sunday.
His contribution handed Aguirre his first victory since taking charge of the Spanish side and strengthened his case for a more prominent role as Valencia prepare to welcome Real Madrid to the Mestalla on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Mexican tactician praised Sadiq’s personality and natural ability, describing him as a special player while expressing his satisfaction with the striker’s progress.
“He’s a character. He’s a good guy with a kind heart. He is a special player. He shows details fitting of a great player. I’m very happy with him; let’s see if he can bring us more moments of joy like the one the other day,” Aguirre said during his pre-match press conference.
The Valencia boss also confirmed that the Nigerian was fit and available for selection, offering reassurance after his recent injury absence.
Sadiq’s physical presence, aerial ability and willingness to compete against defenders could prove valuable against a Real Madrid side expected to enjoy significant spells of possession.
The former Real Sociedad forward will therefore be hoping to build on his impressive return and give Valencia another attacking option as they seek an important result against the Spanish giants.
However, whether he earns a starting place remains uncertain, with Arnaut Danjuma and other attacking options also competing for places in Aguirre’s lineup.
If Sadiq does get the chance, another influential display could strengthen his position in the manager’s plans as he looks to put his injury problems behind him and get back to playing football regularly..
