Tottenham Hotspur fans are eagerly waiting to find out who the club’s next big signing will be after manager Roberto De Zerbi hinted that a surprise transfer is on the way, Footynaija reports.
The Italian coach revealed that the club is quietly working on a major deal for an attacking player, but refused to reveal the player’s name.
The comment has started plenty of debate among supporters, with several top forwards being linked to Spurs. One of the biggest names mentioned is Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has been one of Europe’s most consistent goalscorers over the past two seasons.
Tottenham are expected to strengthen their attack after their primary target Bournemouth’s young forward Eli Junior Kroupi suffered a serious injury. There are also continued rumours that Richarlison could leave the club, making another striker a priority alongside Dominic Solanke.
Osimhen looks like a strong option. The Super Eagles star has scored 59 goals in 74 matches for Galatasaray, helping the Turkish giants compete for major honours.
However, signing Osimhen will not be easy. Galatasaray are expected to demand a huge transfer fee, while the striker’s wages would also be among the highest at the club. Spurs may need to sell players before they can afford such a deal.
For now, Tottenham have not submitted an official offer. Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in Osimhen because of the overall cost. Although Osimhen is happy at Galatasaray, reports suggest he would still welcome the chance to play in the Premier League if the right offer arrives.
