Akor Adams has completed his move to Venezia, but the Super Eagles striker unexpectedly found himself back in the headlines on Monday after his name appeared on LaLiga’s registration list, days after leaving Sevilla for Italy, Footynaija.com reports.
Adams had already been unveiled by Venezia on a long-term contract until 2030, yet he was missing from the squad for Monday’s pre-season friendly against Turkish champions Galatasaray.
There is no cause for concern, though.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla’s decision to register Adams was simply part of the paperwork needed before his licence could be transferred from Spain to the Italian Football Federation. The Nigerian had only been registered with LaLiga for last season, so the club first had to reactivate that registration before the process could be completed.
The same report explains why Adams did not travel with Venezia for their latest friendly. His absence was down to those administrative procedures rather than injury or any late issue with the transfer itself.
The move is a fresh start for the Nigerian striker. Adams joined Sevilla from Montpellier with a lot of expectations after making a name for himself in France, but injuries made it difficult for him to settle. He made a fair number of appearances across all competitions, yet he was never able to enjoy a consistent run in the team.
In the end, both player and club agreed that a move elsewhere would be the best chance for regular football.
Reports in Spain also claim Sevilla’s deal with Venezia could eventually be worth more than €20 million through performance-related add-ons. That would give the Spanish club more room to strengthen the team as they continue rebuilding for the new season.
For Adams, the challenge is now straightforward. Venezia brought him in to help lead the line as they prepare for life back in Serie A, and regular football could also put him back in contention for the Super Eagles after injuries slowed his progress over the past year.
