Nigerian striker Gift Orban has explained the reasons behind his decision to join Turkish Super Lig newcomers Amedspor, revealing that the club’s ambitious project and the overwhelming support from its fans convinced him to make the move, Footynaija.com reports.
Orban completed a season-long loan switch from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim earlier this week as he looks to reignite his career with regular first-team football. The agreement includes a €4 million obligation to buy should Amedspor retain their top-flight status, with Hoffenheim receiving a €1 million loan fee for the deal.
Speaking to the club’s media after his unveiling, Orban said the opportunity to embrace a fresh challenge played a major role in his decision.

“Like I told you before, I wanted a new experience. I spoke with the Amedspor director, and he told me that the club has a new project that they wanted me to be part of,” the Nigerian forward said.
Orban also revealed that the reception he received from Amedspor supporters before the move was completed made a lasting impression and ultimately helped seal his decision.
“When the club showed interest in me, I received a lot of messages from fans asking me to come here. I had never done anything for this club before, but the way the supporters welcomed me and showed their love really motivated me to join.
“The club has good ambitions, and I said, why not wear this beautiful jersey.”
The move brings an end to an uncertain summer for Orban, who returned to Hoffenheim after spending the 25/26 campaign on loan at Hellas Verona. Although he registered seven goals and two assists in 28 Serie A appearances, he was unable to prevent the Italian club’s relegation, and Verona opted not to pursue a permanent transfer.
With Hoffenheim also making it clear that he was not part of their plans for the new season, Amedspor presented the Nigerian with an opportunity to start afresh at a club eager to establish itself in the Super Lig after earning promotion.
