French authorities have ordered police to question Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi again as the investigation into the violent confrontation between OGC Nice players and supporters continues, Footynaija reports.
The case goes back to November 30, 2025, when Nice lost 3-1 away to Lorient in Ligue 1. After the team returned to its training ground late that night, hundreds of angry supporters gathered outside to protest the club’s poor results. What began as a tense confrontation soon turned ugly.
Moffi and teammate Jérémie Boga later told investigators they were physically assaulted while trying to leave the area. They said they were punched, kicked, spat on and insulted by members of the crowd, while Moffi also claimed his hat was ripped off. Medical reports showed the Nigerian was given seven days off work, while Boga received five days. Both players filed police complaints, and Nice also launched legal action against those responsible.
The case is now before a French court, where two supporters have denied taking part in the attacks, according to ICI. They insist they tried to calm the situation instead of encouraging violence. However, investigators reportedly found weapons, including switchblades, a telescopic baton and tear gas canisters, during searches linked to one of the accused.
Because witnesses have given different versions of what happened, the court has instructed police to question Moffi, Boga, security staff and officers again before the trial continues.
The incident also brought Moffi’s time at Nice to an end. The Nigerian forward joined FC Porto on loan in January 2026 but scored only two goals in 15 matches, leading the Portuguese club to reject the €8 million option to sign him permanently.
Back at Nice this summer, Sporting Director Roger Ricort confirmed the 27-year-old has no future at the club, saying he will be sold before the transfer window closes. Turkish side Beşiktaş are among the clubs interested, while Marseille have also been linked as Moffi looks for a fresh start after one of the toughest periods of his career.
