Victor Osimhen’s outstanding performance with Galatasaray helped the team secure their 25th Süper Lig title with a 3-0 win over Kayserispor on May 18, 2025, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian striker scored in the game, helping the Istanbul giants confirm their dominance in the title race. But beyond the goals and celebrations, it was the fans’ love for Osimhen that dominated the scenes.

Throughout the night, supporters held emotional banners in the stands. Some read “Stay with us Osi! Not because you have to, BUT BECAUSE YOU WANT TO!” while others simply begged him to stay.

These messages by the Galatasaray faithful have embraced Osimhen not just for his goals but for the joy he brings to the club.

Earlier in May, fans shared an open letter to Osimhen online, pleading for him to stay. It read, “As the Galatasaray family, we want to express how much we love you and how happy we know you are here… You are not just a football player, you hold a special place in our hearts,” according to Pulse Sports Nigeria.

This affection for Osimhen did not start recently. Earlier in the season, Turkish outlet AS had reported that Galatasaray fans were so desperate to keep him that some had suggested starting a GoFundMe-style movement, urging 35 million Gala supporters to each contribute $1 towards securing his permanent stay at the club. That wild yet passionate idea captured the depth of their admiration for the Super Eagles striker.

Osimhen has always responded to the fans’ passion. After Sunday’s win, he was seen surrounded by dozens of Galatasaray children on the pitch.

He hugged them, posed for pictures, and took time to soak it all in. The scenes echoed what happened earlier in March when he celebrated a hat-trick by dedicating his goals to young fans in the crowd.

Though speculation continues about where Osimhen will play next season, it is obvious that Galatasaray fans want him to remain.
