Victor Osimhen has been voted the Turkish Süper Lig Player of the Week for Round 9 after his match-winning performance in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe, Footynaija reports.
The Nigerian striker received the individual honour following a fan vote organised by Transfermarkt Turkey, whose official account announced the result on X on Wednesday, October 28.
Osimhen, Nigeria’s most valuable player MVP, earned the award after scoring twice in Monday’s Intercontinental Derby at RAMS Park. He helped Galatasaray defeat their fierce Istanbul rivals and strengthen their position at the top of the league table.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing a well-worked move after receiving a pass from Barış Alper Yılmaz. He controlled the ball inside the penalty area before firing a low, left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Osimhen, who was later criticized by Fenerbahçe manager, struck again just before half-time to put Galatasaray firmly in control. The striker reacted quickly to redirect Davinson Sánchez’s ambitious effort with an improvised header, leaving the Fenerbahçe goalkeeper unable to keep the ball out.
The Super Eagles forward continued to trouble the visitors after the break and came close to completing his hat-trick, only for one of his headers to hit the woodwork and another effort ruled out for offside.
The Nigeria international finished the match with seven shots, three of them on target, and earned an 8.9 rating from FotMob before leaving the pitch in the 89th minute.
His two goals proved decisive as Galatasaray secured three points against their bitter rivals and moved six points clear of Fenerbahçe.
Galatasaray are aiming to become the first Turkish club to win the Super Lig title in five consecutive years.
