10. Isaac Success – 7 goals (Granada, Malaga)
Before carving out a career in England and Italy, Success made his European breakthrough in Spain. He joined Granada in 2014 and, despite being just 18, he was trusted to lead the line. Across two seasons, he scored 6 La Liga goals, using his power and dribbling ability to trouble defenses. A brief stint at Malaga followed in 2017, where he added one more strike. Though his tally sits at 7, Success is remembered for his raw talent and flashes of brilliance that hinted at his potential.

9. Obafemi Martins – 7 goals (Levante UD)
The man nicknamed “Obagoal” needs no introduction. After lighting up Serie A and the Premier League, Martins brought his trademark speed and acrobatics to Levante in 2012. Although his stint in La Liga was brief, he made considerable impact scoring 7 goals in 21 games before heading off to MLS. 8. Umar Sadiq – 11 goals (UD Almeria, Real Sociedad, Valencia)
Sadiq has carved out a reputation as one of the most underrated Nigerian strikers in Europe. He first made waves at UD Almeria, where his goals in Segunda helped the club win promotion to LaLiga. Once in the top flight, he continued to show his worth with a combination of strength and finishing ability.
His move to Real Sociedad in 2022 was meant to take him to the next level, but injuries slowed him down. 7. Odion Ighalo – 13 goals (Granada)
Before his high-profile moves to Watford, Changchun Yatai and even Manchester United, Ighalo was grinding it out in Spain with Granada. Signed in 2009, he became an important figure as the Andalusian side rose from Segunda Division to La Liga.
Across four top-flight seasons, Ighalo chipped in 13 goals, often acting as the main man up front for a team battling relegation. He didn’t win silverware in Spain, but his persistence and sharp instincts made him a fan favourite at Los Carmenes.
6. Samuel Chukwueze – 21 goals (Villarreal)
Chukwueze became Villarreal’s golden boy after joining their academy in 2017. By 2018, he was already churning out exciting performances in the senior team with his electric dribbling and quick feet. Over five LaLiga seasons, Chukwueze scored 21 goals, but his impact went far beyond numbers.
He was a key figure in Villarreal’s Europa League triumph in 2021 and consistently terrorized top defenses, including a famous brace against Real Madrid in 2023. His performances eventually earned him a big move to AC Milan, but in La Liga, he left a legacy as one of Nigeria’s brightest exports.
5. Mutiu Adepoju – 22 goals (Racing Santander, Real Sociedad)
Nicknamed “The Headmaster” for his aerial ability, Adepoju spent over a decade in Spain, where he became a midfield icon. He first shone at Racing Santander, scoring 11 goals to help the club secure its La Liga status.
A move to Real Sociedad in 1996 saw him add another 11 goals to his tally across five seasons. Adepoju may not have been the most prolific, but his leadership, consistency and knack for big goals earned him cult-hero status. 4. Kalu Uche – 38 goals (UD Almeria, RCD Espanyol, Levante UD)
Kalu Uche was a versatile forward who thrived in multiple attacking roles. His best years came at UD Almeria, where he scored 33 La Liga goals between 2005 and 2011. He later had short stints at Espanyol and Levante, adding another 5 goals to his record.

The more prolific of the Uche brothers, Ikechukwu was a true La Liga journeyman. He played for six different clubs, but his best spell came at Villarreal, where he scored 29 goals and played a crucial role in their return to European football.
Before that, he was a talisman at Recreativo Huelva and Real Zaragoza, hitting double digits in multiple seasons. Quick, sharp and a natural poacher, Ikechukwu Uche’s 43 La Liga goals make him Nigeria’s third all-time scorer in Spain.
2. Finidi George – 43 goals (Real Betis, RCD Mallorca)
A legend of Ajax’s golden era, Finidi brought his class to Spain in 1996 when he joined Real Betis. Over four seasons in Seville, he became a fan favourite, scoring 38 goals from the right wing and helping Betis reach the Copa del Rey final.
Later, he joined RCD Mallorca, adding another 5 goals to his tally. Finidi was more than just goals though, he was creativity, vision and leadership rolled into one. He might not have lifted silverware in Spain, but his legacy at Betis remains untouchable.
1. Christopher Ohen – 48 goals (SD Compostela)
At the very top of our list sits Ohen, Nigeria’s ultimate La Liga goalscorer. He signed for SD Compostela in 1991 and became their all-time leading scorer, netting 48 goals in Spain’s top division.
Ohen was the heartbeat of Compostela during their golden years in La Liga, leading the line with clinical finishing and immense strength. His goals kept them competitive and gave Nigerian football one of its finest European ambassadors.
Ohen’s 48-goal record still stands tall today, making him the undisputed king of Nigerian strikers in La Liga.
