Eintracht Frankfurt have sent an official offer to Club Brugge for Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, Footynaija reports.
This is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Bundesliga club are looking to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes and believe Onyedika is the right player for the job. The Nigerian has impressed in Belgium with his calm style of play, strong tackling and ability to control games from midfield.
Since joining Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland, the 25-year-old has become one of the club’s most reliable players. He has made 183 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing six assists despite mainly playing as a defensive midfielder.
Frankfurt’s interest comes at an important time because Onyedika’s current contract is due to expire next summer. That means Belgian champions Club Brugge could decide to sell him now instead of risking losing him for free at the end of the season.
The German club are not the only team watching the Nigerian international. Several clubs across Europe are also following his situation, meaning Club Brugge could receive more offers before the transfer window shuts.
A move to the Bundesliga would be another big step in Onyedika’s career after successful spells in Denmark and Belgium. The coming days are expected to be crucial as Club Brugge decide whether to accept Frankfurt’s bid or hold out for a better offer.
