Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is hopeful that Taiwo Awoniyi could return to action for the Premier League clash against Everton this weekend, as the team aims to bounce back from a tough defeat, Footynaija.com reports.

Awoniyi, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury, sustained the setback in Forest’s 2-1 home win over Manchester United two weeks ago.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles striker was forced to miss Forest’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend. This saw them struggle to find their usual rhythm.

Ahead of Match Week 32, Santo said the return of Awoniyi could prove crucial for the Tricky Trees as they seek to recover from their recent loss.

“We are hopeful on all of them. It can be all of them or it can be none, we don’t know. It depends on how they recover and how they feel,” Santo said in a press conference, referring to Awoniyi, Chris Wood, and Anthony Elanga, who are also being closely monitored ahead of the match.

The return of these key players could give Forest the boost they need, especially as they look to regain their winning form.

Fans are eager to see the Nigerian international back in action, as Awoniyi has been a key part of their attack this season.

Nottingham Forest are currently in 3rd place in the Premier League standings, having enjoyed a strong campaign, with key performances from various players.

They will face 15th place Everton on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at The City Ground in Nottingham.

As the Premier League heats up, Forest will be hoping to use this match as an opportunity to not only secure points but to also strengthen their position in the top half of the table.
