1. Irrepressible Germany

The Euro 2024 hosts secured their second consecutive win as impressive goals from Jamal Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan earned them a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hungary. Germany faced little resistance from their opponents and controlled the match throughout. They now sit at the top of the group and have advanced to the second round.

2. Musiala shines again for the hosts

Musiala has scored twice in two games, making the 21-year-old the current top scorer of the tournament. Given his significant impact on Germany’s performance, it is very likely that Musiala will add more goals to his tally. The Bayern star has proven to be one of Germany’s most important players at the Euros, so we expect to see plenty more from him as they progress deeper into the tournament.

3. Toni Kroos’ midfield masterclass

The 34-year-old once again caused football fans all over the world to wonder about his decision to retire from football after this tournament with an absolutely delightful performance in midfield. Kroos was immense in the middle of the park, keeping the ball in retention and always picking out the right pass. Football will certainly miss his magic.

4. Manuel Neuer proves his doubters wrong

The Germany skipper, who won his 121st International cap came up trumps when called upon during the match. He displayed his enduring class as he produced a couple of excellent saves to deny Hungary in the first half when the game was still pretty tight and Hungary looked to cause some problems.

5. Germany look like they can go all the way this time

The hosts are certainly the ones to beat at the 2024 European Championships and they have the look of a team who could go all the way this year. After failing to progress past the last 16 at Euro 2020, where they lost to England at Wembley, and suffering group-stage exits in the last two World Cups, Germany now appears to be the real deal in this tournament.
