Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has revealed that helping Trabzonspor achieve collective success will be his biggest priority in the upcoming Turkish Super Lig season, insisting team achievements mean far more to him than individual accolades, Footynaija.com reports.
The 32-year-old made the remarks while reflecting on an outstanding 25/26 campaign during Trabzonspor’s pre-season preparations.
After finishing as the Super Lig’s joint top scorer and playing a decisive role in the club’s Turkish Cup triumph, Onuachu is expected to spearhead another title challenge as the Black Sea Storm look to go one better this season.

Despite his prolific goalscoring exploits, the Nigerian international stressed that his success in front of goal is only possible because of the work put in by his teammates across the pitch.
“I always describe myself as a team player. Maybe you can achieve some things individually, but if you want to achieve great success, you do it as a team,” Onuachu said, per 61 Saat.
“Maybe I’m the one scoring the goals, but if there’s no assist, if the winger or defender doesn’t do their job, if there’s no pressure, maybe the goals won’t come.
“You can see me scoring goals individually, but here we score goals as a team.
“You want to score the most goals, but behind that is the team’s success. I want success as a team rather than individual success.”
Trabzonspor were genuine title contenders for large parts of last season before ultimately falling short, although they ended the campaign on a high by lifting the Turkish Cup.
With Onuachu once again expected to lead the line, the former Genk striker will be hoping his team-first mentality can inspire the Black Sea Storm to mount an even stronger challenge for the Süper Lig crown in the upcoming season.
