What Ademola Lookman’s coach said after Atalanta’s draw with Cremonese to extend Serie A winless streak

Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric delivered a candid assessment of his team’s ongoing struggles after their 1-1 draw with Cremonese on Saturday extended their winless run in Serie A to four matches, Footynaija.com reports.

Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy fired Cremonese ahead in the 78th minute, but Marco Brescianini struck six minutes later to salvage a point for Atalanta, their fourth consecutive league draw and seventh across all competitions.

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman endured another quiet outing, failing to make a decisive impact despite playing the full 90 minutes. The result means his wait for a first goal contribution of the season continues.

Reflecting on the performance, Juric acknowledged his side’s attacking struggles, admitting they currently lack a clinical edge in front of goal. He also pointed to Lookman’s dip in form as one of the factors affecting Atalanta’s recent lack of thrust.

“A bit of everything. Right now, we’re lacking a bit of polish, there’s no denying it,” he explained as quoted by Tutto Atalanta.

“We’re gradually reintroducing Scamacca, and each time he’s growing a little more. Lookman, after a difficult summer, is working to regain his form.

“These are players who in previous years made the difference and won games, but today they’re not yet at their best, and that’s having an impact.

“But the team, overall, makes few or no mistakes: they create plenty of chances, play, fight, but can’t convert all that into goals. It’s a question of brilliance, not quality or commitment.”

This latest stalemate means Juric’s Atalanta remain the only unbeaten team in Serie A as at matchday 8 albeit with a not so impressive record of two wins and six draws to tally 12 points from a possible 24.
