Rwanda head coach Adel Amrouche is confident his side’s strong mentality can help them surprise the Super Eagles in Saturday’s World Cup qualification game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles emerged victorious when both sides clashed at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali a few months back to record their first victory of the World Cup qualifying campaign.
With both teams set to lock horns once more in a high stakes game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, many expect the Super Eagles, who boast an array of world-class talents on their roster to complete the double over Amavubi.
However, Amrouche has fired a warning to Nigerians, emphasizing that despite the difference in the stature of both nations, his team’s strong mentality means they have what it takes to upset the Super Eagles on home soil.
What Adel Amrouche said
“Football is not war. Rwandans love football, the Amahoro Stadium was filled to capacity the last time we played against Nigeria. They defeated us, and the fans went home without any problem,” Amrouche said during his pre-match conference.
“We are here to give the fans good football, I hope they will come out in large numbers to watch the game. We also want to win the game.
“We are here with a positive approach. We know what we have to do, which is to win. We are not here just to be nice, this is a game we can’t afford to lose.
“We respect the Super Eagles, but they must respect us too. We are not a small team, we have a strong mentality. Rwanda is not as big as Nigeria but we have a strong mentality.”
The result of this game will hold telling ramifications for the World Cup dreams of both nations. With both teams certain to set out in search of all three points, the stage is set for an absolutely enthralling encounter in Uyo.
