Victor Osimhen has his sights firmly set on silverware as he leads Galatasaray into the Turkish Cup final against Trabzonspor in Gaziantep on Wednesday night, Footynaija.com reports.

For the Nigerian striker, it’s a chance to land his first trophy with the Istanbul giants and take one big step towards an iconic domestic double.

Since his high-profile arrival, Osimhen has embraced the pressure with trademark intensity.

Today is the day Victor James Osimhen wins his first trophy for Galatasaray tonight in the Turkish cup finals against Trabzonspor!!

– I will be dropping links for the match later on Today. Kickoff is 6:45pm Nigeria time.

In just three Turkish Cup games, he has already netted three times and registered an assist. Across all competitions, the Super Eagles forward boasts an eye-catching return of 33 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances.

“I came here to win,” Osimhen said earlier this season. “Big clubs demand trophies – and that’s what I’m here to deliver.”

Should Galatasaray lift the Turkish Cup, Osimhen will become only the third Nigerian – after Valentine Ozornwafor and Henry Onyekuru – to win a major silverware with Galatasaray.

Ozornwafor was in the Galatasaray squad that clinched the Turkish Super Cup in 2019 while Onyekuru won the league and cup double with the Istanbul club earlier that year.

Interestingly, that was the last time Galatasaray the Turkish Cup, but now, under Okan Buruk’s leadership, they are hungry to reclaim it and add to their potential league title.

This from 2015! After Victor Osimhen had just won the U17 World Cup and the Golden Boot. It came to pass. https://t.co/XaAqjU2qat

Galatasaray are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Trabzonspor and recently defeated them 2-0 in the league, thanks to goals from Abdulkerim Bardakci and Alvaro Morata. Their firepower extends beyond Osimhen, with Baris Alper Yilmaz also contributing 11 league goals. Yet, it’s the Nigerian’s presence that elevates the team.

Trabzonspor, led by Fatih Tekke, will look to Simon Banza – with 19 goals – to inspire an upset. But with Galatasaray’s balance of ruthless attack and defensive solidity – they are joint-top scorers and have conceded the fewest goals in the Super Lig – the Yellow and Reds are favourites to clinch their 19th Turkish Cup.

Victory tonight would crown Osimhen’s dream spell in Istanbul.
