Dele-Bashiru’s return to training hands Lazio big boost ahead of Torino clash

Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has returned from his spell on the sidelines to potentially hand a huge boost to Lazio ahead of their big Serie A clash against Torino, Footynaija.com reports.

Dele-Bashiru suffered a twisted ankle in a league game against Venezia back in February. He was sidelined for four games, missing clashes with Inter Milan, AC Milan, Viktoria Plzen and Udinese. The 24-year-old returned for Lazio’s second leg against Plzen but suffered a relapse and returned to the treatment room.

Dele-Bashiru’s injury saw him miss out on a chance to represent Nigeria in the just concluded international break after being named in the provisional squad list. In his absence, Nigeria secured a 2-0 win over Rwanda before playing out a frustrating 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe to leave their World Cup qualification hopes hanging by a thread.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Nigerian midfielder resumed group training on Wednesday, clearing the path for his potential return to the squad against Torino on Monday, March 31 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Heading into the game against Torino, the Biancocelesti will be looking to bounce back from their damning 5-0 defeat at the hands of Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in their last Serie A game. That defeat saw Lazio overtaken by the Rossoblu in the Serie A standings, pushing them down to 6th position.
