Super Eagles defender Abdullahi Bewene has received glowing praise from Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpisovsky following Baník Ostrava’s heavy defeat to the Czech champions, Footynaija.com reports.
Bewene was in action as Baník suffered a 4-0 loss to Slavia, but the Nigerian youngster still did enough to catch the eye of the experienced tactician, who believes the 21-year-old has all the attributes to develop into a top player.
Speaking after the game, Trpisovsky singled out Bewene for special praise, highlighting the defender’s athleticism and enormous room for improvement.

“I see a different player in Bewene. He has a future ahead of him,” the Slavia boss said, per Ruik.
“He has brutal acceleration and speed. Even the offensive component. He has to learn some things, but he has huge potential.
“Just like Siniyavskiy, these are players who are really unpleasant for us when they play against us.”
The comments add to what has already been an impressive rise for the Nigerian defender. After breaking into Baník Ostrava’s first team last season, Bewene established himself as a regular, making 23 league appearances before earning his maiden Super Eagles call-up under Eric Chelle.
The versatile right-sided defender marked his international debut with a full 90-minute display in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Poland before featuring again in the friendly against Portugal.
Bewene’s rapid development has also attracted attention in the transfer market, with clubs in France, Belgium and the Netherlands reportedly monitoring his progress. At just 21, the latest endorsement from one of Czech football’s most respected coaches will only strengthen the growing belief that the Super Eagles youngster has a bright future ahead.
