Tolu Arokodare has already set his sights on a long-term future at Ajax after making a bright start to life with the Dutch champions, Footynaija reports.
The Super Eagles striker joined the club from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan, with Ajax holding the option to make the deal permanent next summer.
The Nigerian wasted no time winning over the fans. He scored only 17 minutes into his first appearance as Ajax beat Volendam 3-1 in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.
Arokodare is hoping this loan spell gives him the chance to rediscover the form that made him one of Belgium’s most dangerous forwards. Before moving to Wolves, he finished as the 2024-25 Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 21 goals in 40 matches. He also impressed during spells at Valmiera FC and Amiens SC, scoring 43 goals in 97 games.
Speaking about what comes after his loan, the 24-year-old told Ajax Life: “I can’t say that yet. Ajax is a great team, but the clubs decide. The mentality is there, the people are nice, and the supporters are amazing.”
He then made his feelings clear about where he would like to be if everything goes according to plan.
“As a footballer, you want to win and score. If I manage to do that here, naturally I want to stay.”

Still, any permanent move will depend on Ajax and Wolves, as Arokodare remains under contract with the Premier League club until June 30, 2029.
