Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has reflected on a season filled with highs and lows after enjoying a largely impressive personal campaign with both Nigeria and Fulham, Footynaija.com reports.
Iwobi was one of Fulham’s most important players throughout the 25/26 season, playing virtually every game he was available for as the Cottagers pushed for European qualification.
While Marco Silva’s side ultimately fell short of that objective, the Nigerian midfielder also enjoyed a strong AFCON campaign, helping the Super Eagles secure a third-place finish in Morocco.
Reflecting on the recently concluded season, Iwobi admitted there were moments of disappointment but expressed pride in what both Fulham and Nigeria managed to achieve.

“The 2025/2026 season has wrapped up, a season of ups and downs,” the Nigeria international said on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast.
“Of course, we wanted to secure a European spot, but it wasn’t meant to be. Nonetheless, we’ve got to be proud of what we achieved and how far Fulham has come as a club.”
Despite eventually missing out, Fulham remained in contention for European qualification for much of the campaign, with Iwobi playing a key role before a hamstring injury briefly sidelined him towards the end of the season.
Alex Iwobi reflects on Nigeria’s AFCON campaign
The former Arsenal midfielder also looked back positively on Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, although he admitted the Super Eagles had hoped to go all the way.

“Good season overall, also Afcon we did well. When you go to a tournament you want to win it but to achieve third place in a tough competition is still credit to ourselves.
“We always strive to achieve more to improve. Hopefully next season we can do that. I can do that again personally as well. Personally try to get more stats, more goals.”
Iwobi was one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the tournament, drawing praise for his displays in a deeper midfield role as he helped the Super Eagles claim a podium finish.
Having returned from injury to feature in Fulham’s final games of the season, the 29-year-old is now focused on the upcoming international window.

“I’m grateful to be back fit after injury. I was able to finish the season feeling good. Of course, I’ve got to get ready for the international break, but I have a little time off to refresh.”
Iwobi has been named in Eric Chelle’s squad for this month’s friendlies against Poland and Portugal, where he will be hoping to build on an impressive campaign for both club and country.
