“We’re desperate” – Everton boss makes transfer admission amid links to Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi

David Moyes has publicly admitted to being “desperate” for reinforcements in the ongoing summer transfer window, amid speculations linking his Everton side with a potential swoop for Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Footynaija.com reports.

Everton have been relatively slow-paced in the transfer market this summer compared to a number of their Premier League rivals and Moyes appears to be growing frustrated with the current state of his squad especially after parting ways with some key players from last season.

This lack of reinforcements have borne consequences in pre-season, with the Toffees recording two defeats and one draw from three games played so far. Their most recent defeat came at the Premier League Summer Series against Bournemouth when they were beaten 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey on Saturday.

“We’re desperate to get things moving on,” Moyes expressed his frustrations during his side’s tour of the US as per Goodison News.  “We’ve got to start getting moving, because it won’t be long until it’s a bit close to the end of the window.”

Back in June, Everton were reported to be eyeing a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi but so far, the Toffees are yet to make any concrete moves towards securing the Nigeria international.

Can Wilfred Ndidi realistically join Everton?

Everton currently have a huge void in the middle of the park after parting ways with Abdoulaye Doucoure, who was one of their best players last season and Ndidi is more than capable of filling that void.

The Super Eagles star is a proven midfield enforcer in the Premier League and he’s unlikely to settle for Championship football following Leicester’s relegation last season. With a reported price tag of just £9 million, he represents a bargain purchase for any potential suitor.

Despite securing forward Thierno Barry, goalkeeper Mark Travers and left-back Adam Aznou, Everton still appear lacking in several key areas of the pitch, especially in midfield.
