Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is set to miss Lazio’s Serie A clash with AC Milan on Saturday as the Nigeria midfielder’s return from injury has been delayed, Footynaija reports.
Dele-Bashiru had appeared close to a comeback, but Lazio’s latest update from Formello, per FantaCalcio, suggests he will not be ready for the visit of AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.
The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. local time on Saturday with Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso facing a selection problem in midfield. Dele-Bashiru’s return has reportedly been pushed back, with the Nigeria international now expected to target the game against Venezia or a return after the next international break.
That delay is a setback for Dele-Bashiru, who has been working his way back into Gattuso’s plans. The report did not give a new specific return date, leaving the Lazio medical staff to assess his progress before the Venezia game.
Lazio will at least have Andrea Pinamonti available against Milan after the striker returned to full team training following an ankle problem suffered against Udinese. Pinamonti is expected to lead the attack alongside Mattia Zaccagni, with Gustav Isaksen and Matteo Cancellieri competing for the other attacking position.
Dele-Bashiru’s absence could therefore be felt more in the middle of the pitch as Lazio prepare for a Milan side that has started the 2026-27 Serie A campaign with seven points from three matches.
Milan opened the season with a 2-1 win at Torino before beating Venezia 2-0 at San Siro. They then drew 1-1 with Juventus in Turin on Sept. 6.
Samuel Chukwueze has played an important part in that start. The Super Eagles winger has started two of Milan’s first three league matches and has already provided two assists. He set up Adrien Rabiot for Milan’s second goal in the 2-1 win at Torino, delivering a left-footed cross that Rabiot finished at the far post.
His influence continued against Juventus. Chukwueze came off the bench for the final 29 minutes and supplied the cross that led to Alphadjo Cisse’s 69th-minute opener in the 1-1 draw at Allianz Stadium.
