Super Eagles defender Abdullahi Bewene has signed a new five-year contract with Czech 1. Liga side Banik Ostrava, committing his future to the club until June 2031 despite attracting strong interest from teams across Europe, Footynaija.com reports.
The new deal rewards the 21-year-old’s rapid development over the past year and reinforces Banik Ostrava’s determination to retain one of their brightest young talents.
However, the extension does not necessarily end speculation surrounding Bewene’s future. Instead, it strengthens the Czech club’s position in negotiations as several clubs continue to monitor the versatile Nigerian ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.

Explaining the decision to hand the defender a long-term contract, Banik Ostrava’s head of sport, Ludek Miklosko, highlighted both Bewene’s development and the club’s belief in his potential.
“Bewe is one of the players with whom we have recently recorded very interesting performance progress. In his case, we are also convinced that he has not yet reached his ceiling,” Miklosko told the club’s official website.
“He has the parameters for top-level football and by extending his contract, we are therefore ensuring continued cooperation with a player who has the potential to be very important for Baník in the coming seasons.
“I believe that with this long-term contract with a player who was in great demand on the market, we are showing our ambitions for the future.”
Whether Bewene remains in the Czech Republic beyond this transfer window remains uncertain, but Banik Ostrava have now ensured that they will be in a far stronger position should any interested club come calling.
