Just six months after arriving in Turkey, Chibuike Nwaiwu is closing in on a dream Premier League move after Fulham reportedly agreed personal terms with the Super Eagles defender, Footynaija.com reports.
According to Foot Mercato, the Cottagers have agreed a contract with the Nigerian international that would keep him at Craven Cottage until 2030. However, the transfer is yet to be completed, with Fulham and Trabzonspor still negotiating a fee for the highly-rated defender.
Fulham have made strengthening their defence a priority this summer, with Nwaiwu emerging as one of the club’s leading targets. The 22-year-old has come into the spotlight since joining Trabzonspor in January, quickly establishing himself as a regular in the starting lineup and helping the Turkish side lift the Turkish Cup.

The London club have already seen two offers turned down in their pursuit of the Nigerian. An opening bid worth around €20 million failed to convince Trabzonspor before an improved package valued at €28 million, including €3 million in add-ons, was also rejected.
Trabzonspor are understood to value Nwaiwu at between €30 million and €35 million and remain in a strong negotiating position, having only signed him six months ago. Nevertheless, Fulham are expected to continue talks as they look to reach a compromise before the new Premier League season gets underway.
If this particular deal goes through, Nwaiwu will take the next major step in his career by moving to England for the first time. The transfer would also see him link up with fellow Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage.
The coming days will certainly be crucial as negotiations between both clubs continue.
