Seven-time Turkish Super Lig champions Trabzonspor have rejected a fresh approach from Premier League outfit Fulham for the services of Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, Footynaija.com reports.
Fulham have set their sights on Nwaiwu as an ideal defensive reinforcement ahead of the new season after the Nigerian centre-back enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in Turkey.
The Nigerian defender only joined Trabzonspor six months ago but wasted little time establishing himself as a key figure in the heart of the defence as the Black Sea Storm secured a third-place finish in the Super Lig, qualified for next season’s UEFA Europa League and lifted the Turkish Cup.
Fulham initially saw a €20 million bid turned down before returning with an improved offer worth €28 million, comprising €25 million upfront and a further €3 million in performance-related add-ons.

However, reports from Turkish news outlet Fanatik indicate that Trabzonspor have rejected the revised proposal as well, remaining firm in their valuation of the Nigerian international.
The Turkish club are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of €30 million to €35 million before they will consider parting ways with one of their prized assets.
If both sides are able to reach an agreement, Nwaiwu would become the most expensive outgoing transfer in Turkish Super Lig history, eclipsing the €30 million move of Ferdi Kadıoğlu from Fenerbahce to Brighton in 2024.
Despite this latest setback, Fulham are expected to return with another improved offer as they continue to prioritise Nwaiwu’s signature.
Trabzonspor, meanwhile, are in complete control of the situation with the defender contracted long-term and reportedly content to continue his development in Turkey.
