Danish Superliga side Midtjylland FC have announced the re-acquisition of Nigerian striking talent Friday Etim from domestic rivals Fredericia ahead of next season, Footynaija.com reports.

Etim returns to Midtjylland barely six months after departing the MCH Arena for Fredecia. Before that move, he had gained valuable experience playing for Portuguese outfits Vizela and CD Mafra.

The 24-year-old striker put pen to paper on a three-year contract, committing his future to the four-time Danish Superliga champions until 2029.

Reacting to the move, Sports Director Kristian Bach Bak told the club’s official website;

“We sold Etim to Fredericia when we could see that there was too much playing time here, but we have never doubted the great potential he contains, and he has unfolded that over the past six months.

“He has been a regular starter and a big part of the great season that Fredericia has had – also with the number of goals and involvement in pressing games.It looks really exciting with the development he has undergone.”

Etim delighted by Midtjylland return

Speaking after his return, Etim revealed that while he enjoyed his brief stint at Federicia, another opportunity to wear Midtjylland’s colours was too good to pass up.

“First of all, I really had a good time in Fredericia. I felt welcomed and I got a lot of playing time, which has been important for me and my development,” he stated.

“I am moving back to FC Midtjylland, and it is a decision I am really happy about. I am taking with me all the experience I have gathered in Fredericia, and I am ready to give it my all from day one.

“I am looking forward to becoming part of everyday life at FC Midtjylland again, and most of all I am looking forward to playing for titles and the Europa League. These are the scenes I want to be on, and I am ready to contribute to us achieving them.”

While at Fredericia, Etim bagged five goals and one assist in 14 outings. He’ll now be looking to take those numbers to the next level at Midtjylland as they compete on both domestic and European fronts.
