Raphael Onyedika has opened up on his move to Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Super Eagles midfielder explaining why joining the Bundesliga club feels like more than just another step in his growing career after four successful years with Belgian giants Club Brugge, Footynaija.com reports.
The 25-year-old completed his move to Frankfurt this month after the German club reached an agreement with Club Brugge, where he won two Belgian league titles and a Belgian Cup.
He has signed a contract until June 2031 and will wear the number 25 shirt.

Why Frankfurt means more to Onyedika
Speaking to Frankfurt’s official website, Onyedika revealed that his connection with the club started long before the transfer was completed, as he had followed their progress and watched them lift the Europa League in 2022.
“I’ve signed for one of my dream clubs. I want to play well here, keep developing, help the team as much as possible and lead by example with my performances,” Onyedika said.
He also revealed that he followed Frankfurt’s Champions League matches last season.
The Nigerian also explained that Frankfurt’s interest was not something that developed overnight. The two sides had remained in contact after the initial approach, before the transfer finally came together this summer.
That background makes the move particularly meaningful for Onyedika, who has already spoken about the importance of continuing to improve at the next stage of his career. He also sees Frankfurt as an opportunity to make a bigger mark in the Bundesliga.
His first days in Germany have already started positively. Onyedika said his new teammates have helped him settle in, while he has also had his first training session with the club.
There is also a strong Nigerian connection at Frankfurt. Onyedika follows in the footsteps of Jay-Jay Okocha, who became a cult figure at the German club during his time there in the 1990s.
“Everybody in Nigeria knows about Jay-Jay Okocha. He’s a real legend in our country,” Onyedika said.
