Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has emerged as a transfer target for Hamburger SV, with the Bundesliga club already in discussions with OGC Nice over a possible move for the Nigerian forward, Footynaija.com reports.
Moffi returned to Nice this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at FC Porto. However, the Portuguese champions decided against activating the €8 million option to sign him permanently, leaving the 27-year-old with a future to sort out.
The striker had hoped to use his time in Portugal to get his career moving again after a difficult period at Nice. He made 15 appearances for Porto and scored twice as the club went on to win the Portuguese league title, but his contribution was not enough to convince them to keep him.

Moffi’s recent struggles also need some context. An anterior cruciate ligament injury kept him out for almost the entire 2024/25 season, and he found it difficult to regain his earlier form after returning.
He made only 10 appearances for Nice before joining Porto on loan in January. That limited run of games came after a difficult spell at the French club, where his future had already become uncertain.
Hamburg see Moffi as another option in attack
Per recent reports, Hamburg have opened talks with Nice over a possible deal for Moffi. HSV sporting director Claus Costa has also confirmed that the Nigerian is among the players the club are considering, although he stressed that a deal is not imminent.
The interest comes after Hamburg already strengthened their attack with the signing of Patson Daka. Moffi would give coach Merlin Polzin another experienced centre-forward option as the club prepare for their return to the Bundesliga.
Nice, meanwhile, are ready to listen to offers. The Nigerian still has a contract with the French club until June 2027, but L’Équipe reported last month that he had been placed on the transfer list as Nice look to reduce their wage bill.
Moffi had previously established himself as one of Ligue 1’s more dangerous forwards, scoring 54 goals across 148 league appearances for Lorient and Nice. His form earned him a move to Nice and made him an important part of the Super Eagles setup.
Hamburg now have to decide whether the Nigerian can rediscover that level in Germany.
