Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed confidence in his squad ahead of their high-profile international friendly clash against Poland, Footynaija.com reports.

Nigeria head into Wednesday’s encounter at the National Stadium in Warsaw without two of their biggest attacking threats after Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen and Atletico Madrid’s Ademola Lookman recently pulled out of the travelling squad.

Despite this, the Super Eagles will be full of confidence courtesy of their impressive outing at the 2026 Unity Cup tournament where they notched five goals against Zimbabwe (2) and Jamaica (3) without conceding any to win the title for a fourth consecutive time.

And Chelle echoed this confidence while addressing questions about the absence of his two biggest stars and how it could affect his side’s performance in the game during his press conference.

“I have made a few decisions that I would not like to speak about in public,” the Franco-Malian tactician said, per Sport Poland. “However, we have a lot of good players who will definitely replace the absent ones and play very well.”

Time to move on from World Cup disappointment – Chelle

The Super Eagles boss also thanked the Polish camp for their warmth and hospitality before emphasizing the need to move on from the disappointment of missing the World Cup.

“We have an interesting match ahead of us, in which we will be able to test several solutions,” Chelle added.

“We thank the Poles for a nice and warm welcome. We’re sad that we are not going to the FIFA World Cup, but that is life.

“We need to focus on our vision and strengths. The match against Poland, which is a difficult opponent, is a good opportunity to check out several other solutions and players.”

The Super Eagles will be looking to extend their winning run while Poland’s focus will be on ending a disappointing run of form that has seen them suffer back to back defeats against Sweden and Ukraine.
