Nigeria-eligible Osula sends Super Eagles a reminder with brace in Newcastle’s win over West Ham

William Osula scored twice in a 3-1 Premier League win over relegation-threatened West Ham on Sunday, taking his tally to five goals in six games and planting himself back into the conversation about Nigeria’s attacking future, Footynaija.com reports.

The 22-year-old has grown into one of the more exciting forwards in the Premier League over the past two months, combining his physical presence with the kind of decisive finishing that separates good strikers from ones clubs build around.

At 1.91 metres, he gives Newcastle a different option up front, and Eddie Howe has leaned on him increasingly as the season has moved into its final stretch.

Osula was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, making him eligible for Denmark, England, France and Nigeria. Denmark called him up to their senior squad for the World Cup playoff fixtures in March, but he remained an unused substitute in both games against North Macedonia and Czech Republic.

Five goals in six Premier League games puts Osula among the most in-form strikers in England right now, and Nigeria’s frontline, which has relied heavily on Victor Osimhen with limited genuine competition behind him, could use exactly the profile Osula brings.

Danish coach Brian Riemer has praised his qualities openly. “He has exceptional top-level skills with his speed,” Riemer said, adding that Osula “is really good at coming in and changing football games.” That Denmark’s own coach is talking him up only raises the stakes in the international tug of war surrounding him.
