Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has offered an encouraging update on his recovery from a hamstring injury, revealing that he could return to action for Valencia soon, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward has been sidelined for several weeks after suffering a serious injury to his right hamstring in late August, but he now believes he is approaching the final stages of his rehabilitation.
Speaking to the media during a promotional event at Valencia’s training ground on Wednesday, Sadiq disclosed that he would undergo medical tests on Thursday to determine whether he can take the next step towards returning to the pitch.

“I think I’m almost back. Just a few more steps before I rejoin the team,” the 29-year-old said when asked about his recovery.
“Tomorrow I have to have some tests done and, if everything goes as planned, I think it will be very soon.”

Sadiq picked up the injury shortly after scoring his first goal of the season, leaving Valencia without one of their main attacking outlets during a difficult start to the campaign.
His return could prove important for the Spanish side, who have struggled for consistency in La Liga and recently appointed Javier Aguirre as their new head coach following Carlos Corberán’s departure.
The Nigerian has yet to feature under Aguirre, but he indicated that the players were getting behind the new manager as they look to improve their fortunes.

“We are doing well. We’re trying to bring a lot of positivity, as you saw in the last match. We’re taking it one step at a time, and we all support the new coach,” Sadiq explained.
“The goal is to take Valencia to where it deserves to be. That’s not just my goal, but the goal of all the players.”
Sadiq’s immediate priority will be to receive medical clearance and return to full team training. If his recovery continues as hoped, he could soon give Aguirre another attacking option as Valencia seek to turn their season around.
