Three Nigeria internationals have been named among the highest-rated players of the AFCON 2025 group stage, footynaija.com reports.

According to figures released by respected statistics platform WhoScored, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze and Wilfred Ndidi all feature in the top ten after the conclusion of the opening three matches in Morocco. Their inclusion is a pointer to Nigeria’s strong group-stage showing, with the Super Eagles one of only two teams – alongside Algeria – to win all three of their games.

Lookman sits top of the overall rankings with a competition-high rating of 8.36, following a series of decisive displays. The Atalanta forward has been directly involved in four goals, scoring twice and providing two assists.

He registered a goal and an assist in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Tanzania before repeating the feat in a dramatic 3-2 victory against Tunisia. The 28-year-old was rested for the final group match against Uganda.

Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez follows in second place on 8.02, with Nigeria winger Chukwueze third on 7.92. Chukwueze featured in two matches and delivered two assists in the 3-1 win over Uganda.

Mohamed Salah is ranked fourth with a rating of 7.85 after scoring match-winning goals against Zimbabwe and South Africa, while Nigeria captain Ndidi sits sixth on 7.72, having also scored his first international goal against Tunisia.

Nigeria will face Mozambique in the Round of 16 on Monday, with several Super Eagles aiming to build on their impressive early-tournament form.
