Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has vowed to help Hull City retain their Premier League status after making a dream start to life back in the English top flight, Footynaija.com reports.
Hull City marked their return to the Premier League after nine years with a stunning 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday, with Ajayi opening the scoring in the first half.
The Nigerian reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner to put the Tigers ahead before Nobel Mendy doubled their advantage before half-time.

Ajayi’s goal made him the first Hull player to score against Manchester United in the Premier League since 2014, while the victory gave the newly promoted side a perfect start to their campaign.
The 32-year-old subsequently received the Player of the Match award after helping Hull keep United at bay and secure all three points.
Despite the impressive opening, Ajayi knows Hull face a difficult challenge over the course of the season and has already set his sights on helping the club avoid relegation.
“It’s amazing. I want to play at the highest level and test myself at the highest level”, the Super Eagles defender said, via RG.
“The Championship fight was not easy, but we proved that our team’s quality is able to challenge in the Premier League. It was really a successful season for us, going to Wembley. To be able to achieve that and get the opportunity to be here this season is massive.
“Personally, I just want to win as many games as possible. I will be ready to help the team to keep our place in the Premier League. We know it is not an easy fight, and we had a good pre-season preparation for it.”
Hull’s victory over United has already given them an early boost in their battle for survival, but Ajayi insists the team must build on that result.
With the Premier League season only just underway, the Nigerian defender is determined to play his part in ensuring Hull remain among England’s top-flight clubs beyond the current campaign.
