Manchester United are set to compete for Xavi Simons’ signature this transfer period, Soccernet.football understands.

Simons, who impressed at EURO 2024, will not be playing for PSG in the upcoming season. Three clubs, including United, are eager to sign him.

Simons made a mark at EURO 2024 with the Netherlands, providing three assists and scoring a crucial goal against England. His performance caught Manchester United’s attention, leading them to join the race alongside Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, as reported by The Sun.

PSG are open to loaning Simons this season, with an option for a permanent transfer next year. His contract with PSG runs until 2027.

Dutch Focus at Old Trafford

Manchester United are focusing on Dutch talents during this transfer period.

Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee, who had limited playtime at EURO 2024, are likely to join their compatriot, manager Erik Ten Hag, who recently extended his contract until 2026.

Joshua Zirkzee, a striker from Bologna, is expected to join United soon. This would be the first signing under the new management led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Zirkzee’s transfer fee is slightly above his release clause of €40 million, and he will sign a contract until 2029, with an option for an additional year.

Meanwhile, Matthijs de Ligt is also close to moving to United. The Bayern Munich defender has expressed his desire to join, and the clubs are nearing an agreement on a fee that could total €50 million.

Former Man United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has recently been appointed as an assistant manager at Old Trafford.
