Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu has hailed the club’s financial muscle and strategic planning after officially sealing a historic deal for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Footynaija.com reports.

The 26-year-old has now signed a four-year contract with the Turkish champions, following an agreement reached on Thursday, 31 July 2025, with Napoli. Galatasaray have brought one of the summer’s most talked-about deals to a close.

Osimhen’s transfer fee was set at €75 million, with Napoli also due 10 percent of the profit from any future sale. The Super Eagles striker will earn €15 million per season in wages, plus a €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million in image rights, bringing his annual package to €21 million net.

Speaking ahead of the finalisation, Abdullah Kavukcu explained how Galatasaray pulled off the mega signing without selling any player or seeking external financial support.

“My president and I believed in this and started it in January. We worked hard to raise the money, without selling anything,” Kavukcu revealed in a report by Pulse Sports.

He stressed that the club was confident in its ability to pay the full amount, and has already covered a significant portion upfront.

The Osimhen signing not only shattered the Turkish transfer record, it also sent a bold message to rivals across Europe. But for Kavukcu, this was about proving Galatasaray’s independence and ambition.

“We said Galatasaray had the capacity to pay this, and we did it. Galatasaray is huge! We achieved this without asking anyone for money,” he added.

Kavukcu also responded to critics who accused the club of grandstanding.

“Some people called us PR people. We expect those who did will pay us. The responsibility now falls on our fans,” he said, urging supporters to remain calm and trust the club’s direction.
