Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has touched down in Istanbul to complete his highly anticipated move to Galatasaray and his journey has already made headlines, breaking broadcast viewership records, footynaija.com reports.

The 26-year-old boarded a private jet alongside businessman Abdullah Kavukçu and his agent en route to Türkiye.

In an extraordinary show of fan engagement, more than 2 million people tuned in to watch the flight’s progress. This makes it one of the most-watched live streams of a football-related event in recent memory, according to NTVSpor.

Osimhen was seen wearing a Galatasaray jersey on the plane, sparking jubilation among the Turkish club’s supporters. Upon landing, hundreds of fans flooded Atatürk Airport to welcome their new hero, chanting and waving club scarves as the striker was escorted from the runway.

The excitement was further fueled by Galatasaray’s cryptic posts on social media. The club shared an image of Osimhen’s iconic protective face mask and a caption that read, “Now we’re all waiting for you.” The symbolism was unmistakable: the club was closing in on a blockbuster deal.

Although Galatasaray are yet to release an official statement confirming the transfer, all signs point to an imminent announcement. The move would mark one of the most high-profile signings in Turkish football history.

Osimhen inspired Galatasaray to a league and cup double last term and the Super Eagles striker will be keen to help the Turkish giants make a deep run in the UEFA Champions League next season.
