Former Nigeria and Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins believes a transfer away from AC Milan is necessary for struggling Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze to rediscover his rhythm and maintain relevance in national team setup Footynaija.com reports.
Chukwueze’s time in Milan has not gone according to plan so far since he made the switch from Villarreal back in the summer of 2023. The once exciting and electric winger seems to have lost his spark with his impact at San Siro way below par.
Formerly a constant source of headaches for opposition defenders in La Liga, Chukwueze’s dip in form has seen him struggle to establish himself as a Rossoneri, managing a meagre return of eight goals from 67 appearances.

His struggles were glaringly evident during his last couple of outings for Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The 25-year-old looked far from his best and put in average displays in both games.
Weighing in on Chukwueze’s current situation, Martins, who scored 18 times in 42 appearances for the Super Eagles, has advised the winger to seek opportunities elsewhere and rediscover his rhythm to remain an option for the national team.
“The Saudi Pro League is becoming increasingly competitive. If a good offer comes along, why not?” he said in quotes revealed by Africa Foot.
“The main thing is for him to play and become a regular starter again. Rhythm and confidence are essential for him.
“His decline in form at club level is reflected in his performances with the Super Eagles. He absolutely must regain his rhythm if he wants to continue to be a driving force for Nigeria.
“A transfer is a necessity if he wants to retain his place and perform well in the national team.”
