Fulham are gearing to face Merseyside giants Liverpool in their next English Premier League outing and Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey is fully aware of the type of challenge that lay ahead, Footynaija.com reports.
The Cottagers make Saturday’s trip to Anfield in desperate circumstances, having failed to register a single point on the board after their first three games of the new Premier League campaign.
They opened the season with a West London derby defeat to Chelsea at Craven Cottage, before going on to also record losses in subsequent games against Crystal Palace and Sunderland.

Meanwhile, their hosts are in a richer vein of form following an unbeaten start to the campaign that saw them record two high-scoring draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest before routinely dispatching Ipswich Town last weekend.
Speaking about the upcoming game, Bassey, who has started every game under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa this season, emphasized the need for Fulham to address their weaknesses ahead of what is bound to be a daunting trip up north.
“It’s not going to be easy. You know what’s coming when you play Liverpool; they have top players. It’s just about doing our homework and seeing how we can hurt them,” Bassey told Fulham’s official webpage.
“We talk with the manager about everything that might not have worked, and try and go into every game understanding more what he wants from us individually as players. He’ll set us up in the right way to tackle Liverpool.”
Fulham are currently second from bottom on the Premier League table, one place above Coventry City, the only other team in the English top flight yet to register a single point so far this season.
Bassey will lead the Cottagers out at Anfield and the Nigeria international will be hoping his influence at the heart of defense can help keep Liverpool’s steadily improving frontline at bay.
