Alex Iwobi reached a rare Premier League milestone on Saturday as the Fulham midfielder became only the fifth player to make at least 100 appearances for three different clubs, Footynaija reports.
The Nigeria international started Fulham’s 3-2 defeat by Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage, taking his Premier League appearances for the club to 100.
Iwobi had already reached the same mark with Arsenal and Everton. He made 100 Premier League appearances for Arsenal before moving to Everton, where he played 123 times in the competition.
That puts him in an exclusive group alongside Gary Speed, Rory Delap, Gareth Barry and James Milner. Only those four players had previously reached 100 Premier League appearances for three different clubs.
The achievement gave Iwobi something to celebrate despite Fulham losing a match in which they twice took the lead.
Joshua King put Fulham ahead in the 11th minute after collecting the ball inside the Palace penalty area and seeing his shot take a deflection on its way past Dean Henderson.
Palace thought they had equalised through Tyrick Mitchell, but his first goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check. Mitchell did get his goal before half-time, however, scoring in the 35th minute to make it 1-1.
Fulham regained the lead three minutes before the break when Cesar Palacios followed up to score from a rebound. Palace levelled again in the 54th minute, with Mitchell completing his brace.
The visitors then finished the comeback in the 77th minute. Ben Chilwell reacted fastest after another rebound and sent the ball into the bottom-right corner to give Palace all three points.
Iwobi played an active role in Fulham’s attack, including taking corners and trying his luck from inside the Palace box. Fellow Nigeria international Calvin Bassey also featured for Fulham.
While the result left Fulham empty-handed, Iwobi’s appearance placed him in a small group of players who have built long Premier League careers at three different clubs.
