Galatasaray are stepping up efforts to convince Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to stay at the club despite growing interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams, Footynaija reports.
Reports from Turkey say the club’s leaders have promised the Nigerian international that they will build an even stronger squad for next season to match his ambitions.
Turkish football analyst Levent Tüzemen says Galatasaray have given Victor Osimhen a clear message as questions continue over where the Nigerian striker will play next season. According to him, the club’s management has promised Osimhen that the team will be stronger in the new campaign as they try to convince him to remain in Istanbul.
Osimhen has attracted attention from several top European clubs after another outstanding season. The Super Eagles forward was directly involved in 30 goals across 33 matches, leading to fresh transfer links with clubs such as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Speaking on Libero TV’s YouTube channel, Tüzemen said Galatasaray officials assured the Nigerian that they are working to improve the squad. He quoted the club’s message to Osimhen as:
“Victor Osimhen received a promise from the Galatasaray management that, ‘We will be a better team next season.'”
The Turkish champions are eager to keep their star striker and believe strengthening the squad could help persuade him to continue his career with them despite interest from abroad.
Osimhen still has three years left on the contract he signed after completing his permanent move to Galatasaray last summer. The transfer, worth €75 million, remains the biggest signing in the history of the Turkish Süper Lig.
