Trabzonspor have added Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro to their list of transfer targets as they search for a replacement after the departure of Christ Inao Oulai to Fiorentina, Footynaija reports.
According to reports from Turkey, the Super Lig club believe the 21-year-old has the qualities needed to strengthen their midfield. One major reason behind their interest is the recommendation of former Trabzonspor hero Anthony Nwakaeme, who reportedly encouraged the club to pursue his fellow Nigerian after retiring at the end of last season.
Akinsanmiro has built a strong reputation in Italy since leaving Remo Stars for Inter Milan in 2023. The energetic midfielder impressed during loan spells at Sampdoria and Pisa, showing his ability to win the ball, press opponents and move play forward. Last season, he played 24 Serie A matches for Pisa, recorded an 85% pass success rate and registered one assist after making 35 Serie B appearances for Sampdoria the previous year.
Despite Trabzonspor’s interest, completing the deal will not be easy. Inter still see Akinsanmiro as one of their brightest young talents and are unwilling to lose control of his future. A proposed permanent move to Pisa collapsed earlier this summer, while Monza are now in talks with Inter over a transfer worth around €10 million. However, the Nerazzurri want any agreement to include a mandatory buy-back clause because they believe the Super Eagles star could become a top midfielder in the years ahead.
With interest also coming from Bundesliga clubs and Serie A side Bologna, Akinsanmiro is expected to favour staying in one of Europe’s top five leagues rather than moving to Turkey.
